LOCAL ARTIST SHOWS HIS SKILLS ARE NOT SO SMALL Jeff Bertrand Paints a Picture for the World to See MURFREESBORO, TN--From winning an award for creativity in Kindergarten to winning an American Vision Award in Washington, D.C., Jeff Bertrand's entire life has been centered around one thing: Art. Bertrand draws his inspiration from anything and everything he can see. Lately, he would describe his artwork as low brow graffiti inspiredE and you wouldn't believe where that inspiration came from. Jeff would walk to school and have to cross train tracks. The more he paid attention to the trains, the more he noticed the graffiti and became intent on learning and absorbing everything he could about the art form. He also does work that could appeal to the people around him. His current line of paintings involves cowboys, drawing on the history of Music City, U.S.A. He also recently did a collaboration piece with local Murfreesboro artist Charles Clary involving UFO's and the people who witness them. Canvas isn't the only thing Bertrand has painted. As an apprentice tattoo artist, he completed over 60 tattoos. Currently, he is attending Georgia Career Institute to work with another medium: hair. Jeff does art shows anywhere that will let him and tries to get his name out there for people to see. From a small venue such as Liquid Smoke in Murfreesboro, to a mural for a Sonic Drive-In, to backdrops for a professional photographer, to designing a pair of shoes for Sneaker Pimps touring around the globe, Bertrand's artwork can be seen virtually anywhere on the planet. Bertrand does freelance or commission pieces. He covers anything from small pencil drawings to large and elaborate graffiti pieces. |
